'Yes, I am here' - Osimhen insists he's going nowhere in January amid Chelsea links
Published: October 29, 2024
Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has pledged his short term future to Galatasaray amid speculation linking him with a transfer to Premier League giants Chelsea in the January transfer window.
The Nigerian striker, who has been in sensational form since joining Galatasaray from Napoli in the summer, continued his form on Monday, scoring to help the team secure a 2-1 lead over Besiktas.
Galatasaray grabbed the lead in the 13th minute when Davinson Sánchez headed home Gabriel Sara's free kick.
In the 67th minute, Osimhen doubled the lead, out-jumping his marker before heading past Ersin Destanoğlu.
The strike increased his tally for the season since joining from Napoli. Osimhen has now scored four goals and provided four assists in 7 games across all competitions.
With the performance and uncertainty around his future, the Super Eagles forward has been linked with a move to several clubs, including Chelsea in the winter transfer.
Despite the speculations, Osimhen has reaffirmed his commitment to stay at Galatasaray until the end of the season. When asked about his future in January, the Nigerian striker told Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, "Yes I am here."
The affirmation will be a huge relief for the Galatasaray fans who would hope to have him until the end of the season to compete for the Super Lig title.
Osimhen has helped Galatasaray to the top of the table with 28 points across ten games without a defeat. The Yellow Reds have won nine games and drawn one all season.
