Moritz Jenz: Fulham product who wants to represent Germany over Nigeria named in Bundesliga TOTW
Published: October 28, 2024Dual-national player Moritz Jenz has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the latest round of matches played in the German Bundesliga, with football statistics website Whoscored.com naming the central defender in its Team of the Week for matchday eight.
A product of the Fulham academy, where he spent five years, Jenz also lists Tennis Borussia Berlin, Lausanne-Sport, Celtic and Schalke 04 as his previous clubs.
Born in Berlin to a German mother and Nigerian father, Jenz has made it clear that he is prioritizing playing for his country of birth over the Super Eagles but remains uncapped at international level.
The VfL Wolfsburg loanee impressed in the heart of defence as Mainz 05 and Borussia Mönchengladbach shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at the Mewa Arena last Friday.
Bayern Munich have contributed the most players (4) to the Team of the Week, followed by Werder Bremen with two, while Wolfsburg, Mainz 05, RB Leipzig, Augsburg and VfB Stuttgart have one representative each.
Against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Jenz showed off his incredible aerial skills, winning a game-high ten aerial duels.
The 25-year-old registered a game-high seven clearances and a team-high five tackles, while making two interceptions over the course of ninety minutes.
He was accurate in 96.1 percent of his passes, a figure not bettered by any other player that started the game, and attempted two shots with one on target.
