Published: October 05, 2024
Through official channels, the Ministry of Sports Libya has announced that it will bear the expenses of the Mediterranean Knights' trip to Uyo for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Super Eagles.
The Libya squad will fly to Uyo on a private plane at the expense of the Ministry of Sports.
Ahead of their trip to Nigeria, the Libyan national team have already started training, under the guidance of new manager Nasser Al-Hadiri who succeeded Serbian coach Micho.
The Ministry of Sports Libya said on its official Facebook page that it will also bear the expenses of the Libyan national team's internal training camp in Tripoli, as well as the expenses of accommodation and transportation for the second leg match against the Nigerian national team in Benghazi.
The Ministry of Sports announced that Minister Abdul Shafi Al-Juwaifi has instructed the provision of all necessary resources to ensure the Libyan national team's success in the doubleheader against the Super Eagles.
Nigeria will take on Libya at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday, October 11, while the reverse fixture will take place at Martyrs of February Stadium, Benghazi on October 15.
A commanding victory over Benin's Cheetahs and goalless draw with Rwanda's Wasps mean the Super Eagles are topping Group D with four points heading into matchday three, while Libya are the bottom team with one point.
The Super Eagles players are expected to begin training for the Afcon qualifier by Tuesday, October 8.
