'We can play even under pressure' - Napoli star points out the differences between Osimhen and Lukaku
Published: September 15, 2024
Napoli defender Amir Rrahmani has noted the differences between playing alongside Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku following the team's 4-0 victory over Cagliari.
Osimhen recently left Napoli on loan to join Galatasaray in the Super Lig after a turbulent summer in which he attracted interest from PSG, Chelsea, and Al Ahli, though none of these moves materialized.
With Osimhen's departure, Napoli has placed their trust in Lukaku as the striker for their new project under Antonio Conte.
Despite an initial defeat to Verona, Napoli has bounced back with three consecutive victories, including the 4-0 win over Cagliari.
With the victory, Napoli currently lead Serie A with 9 points but could drop to second place if Inter Milan beat Monza.
Rrahmani, commenting on the win, praised the team's and coach's efforts and expressed hope that the good form will continue.
"The credit goes to the whole group and the coach," he told Sky Sport Italia via Tuttomercatoweb after the match. "Last year we suffered a lot and we hope to continue like this."
Discussing the difference between Osimhen and Lukaku, Rrahmani noted, "Very much. In previous years we had Osimhen, who kept the ball less and looked more for depth.
"With Lukaku instead we can play even under pressure, he has a strong physique and helps us to go and get the second balls and close the actions."
Meanwhile, Osimhen made an impressive debut for Galatasaray in their 5-0 win over Rizespor, providing an assist in his first outing in Turkey.
