Republic of Benin national football team, the Cheetahs, arrived in Uyo on Thursday evening ahead of their clash with Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands the team touched down at 6:11 pm via a Sky Line flight from Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
Following their arrival, the Cheetahs are expected to head to their designated camp after receiving clearance from the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The highly anticipated match against the Super Eagles is scheduled for Saturday at theGodswill Akpabio International Stadium by 5 pm.
The Super Eagles are eager to rebound from a recent slump, having won only one of their last five matches across all competitions, including a defeat to Republic of Benin a 2026 World Cup qualifying match in June.
Under the interim management of Austin Eguavoen, Nigeria will be aiming to turn their fortunes around and start their AFCON qualifying campaign on a high note.
Eguavoen will be looking to make a positive impression on Nigeria in his fourth stint as head coach, aiming to rebound from a disappointing previous tenure.
His last term ended unsuccessfully, as he failed to secure Nigeria's World Cup qualification, losing the ticket to Ghana.
