Official: Loan deals for Brentford's Onyeka, Brighton's Offiah and Burnley's Adewumi
Published: August 31, 2024Three Nigerians on the books of English clubs secured loan moves away from the respective teams on transfer deadline day.
German Bundesliga club FC Augbsurg have strengthened their squad with the addition of Brentford central midfielder Frank Onyeka.
The Nigeria international reunites with head coach Jess Thorup, whom he played under at Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland.
Onyeka has decided to move to Augsburg on a temporary basis due to inadequate playing opportunities at the Bees, having made only 37 starts since his arrival at the London club in 2021.
The FC Ebedei product will linkup with his new teammates at Augsburg after the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin and Rwanda.
Elsewhere, League One club Blackpool have confirmed the capture of 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Odel Offiah on loan for the remainder of the season.
In the first part of the 2023-2024 campaign, the defender spent time on loan at Hearts of Midlothian, where he appeared in nine games across all competitions and scored his first senior goal.
Offiah was involved in four of the last six Premier League games played by the Seagulls in the 2023-2024 campaign.
Championship club Burnley have signed Vienna-born Nigerian attacking midfielder Oluwaseun Adewumi from Austrian side Floridsdorfer for an undisclosed fee and he has been loaned out to the Clarets strategic partner in Scotland, Dundee until January 1, 2025.
Aged 19, Adewumi put pen to paper on a four-year contract with Burnley before heading to Dundee FC.
On the international stage, he has represented his country of birth Austria at U19 level and he's among the four new faces named in the U21 squad for the internationals in September against Bosnia-Herzegovina and England.
