Chelsea's hat-trick hero Madueke joins Liverpool, Spurs, Real Madrid stars in Europe's top 5 leagues TOTW
Published: August 27, 2024Chelsea's Nigerian winger Noni Madueke has been named in Whoscored.com's European top five leagues Team of the Week, alongside Liverpool forward Luis Díaz, Tottenham Hotspur stars Son Heung-Min and Cristian Romero, and Real Madrid defender Eder Militao.
Coming off the back of getting a goal in Chelsea's victory over Servette, Madueke bagged a hat-trick to help the Blues record an emphatic 6-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in a Premier League game on Sunday, August 25.
The 22-year-old shrugged off the controversy that surrounded him before the clash to help Enzo Maresca win his first Premier League game as Chelsea's boss.
Madueke was given his first start of the season against Wolves, and he seized the opportunity to make an impression on Maresca, who had earlier stated that the right-winger could leave Stamford Bridge before the close of the transfer window.
Coincidentally, his hat-trick against the Wanderers was his first for the Blues and more remarkably, his first ever in his professional career.
He bagged a 9.83 rating for his marvelous performance, which was the highest of any player named in the Team of the Week by the well-respected statistical website, Whoscored.com.
Chelsea and fellow London club Tottenham had the most representatives in the team with two players, with Torino, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, TSG Hoffenheim, Napoli, Liverpool and Manchester City having one apiece.
Below is the full team:
Goalkeeper: Vanja Milinkovic-Savic(Torino)
Defenders: Eder Militao (Real Madrid), Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund), Romero (Tottenham)
Midfielders: Madueke (Chelsea), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Andrej Kramaric (Hoffenheim), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli), Diaz (Liverpool)
