Super Eagles midfielders Ndidi, Iwobi speak ahead of 2025 Afconq against Benin and Rwanda

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has issued a rallying call to his teammates ahead of Nigeria's crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Iwobi emphasized that there is still much to fight for and urged his teammates to rise to the occasion and secure the necessary points to qualify for the AFCON tournament.
Speaking after Fulham's 2-1 victory over Leicester City in London, Iwobi emphasized the importance of securing the necessary points to qualify for the prestigious tournament.
"Of course, there is still a lot to fight for. We have a lot to prove," Iwobi said during an interview with the Super Eagles media team in London.
"I always say we have a lot of quality in the team but hopefully we can kick on and get the points we need to qualify because it is something that we all want to achieve as a nation, we have the players to do so, we just need to believe and make things happen."
The Fulham midfielder star acknowledged the pressure from fans but noted that the players hold themselves to the same high standards.
"Of course, the same way fans and everyone demands from us, we the players, we demand from ourselves as well because we know the quality we have, and we know how we do well for our club sides. We just have to bring the form to Nigeria."
In a similar vein, Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi welcomed the inclusion of young players in the squad and expressed hope that they would integrate quickly.
"They (young players) are always welcome," Ndidi said. "You know this is the national team, this is the whole country. And we're always privilege to play for the national team."
"The guys who come new, I know they always want to give their best because it is a great thing playing for your national team. I really hope they adapt to the team."
The Super Eagles will face Benin Republic on September 7 at the Uyo Township Stadium, followed by an encounter with Rwanda in Kigali on September 10, as they aim to secure their place in the 2025 AFCON.
