Son of former Super Eagles CB signs new deal with Club Brugge; provisionally cap-tied to Belgium
Published: August 26, 2024Through a statement on their official website , Belgian champions Club Brugge announced last week that Kaye Furo has signed a new contract with the Blue-Black.
Kaye has a famous dad, Iyenemi Furo, who was a key member of the Super Eagles squad at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations, having gone the distance in four of the six matches contested by the national team during the tournament in Nigeria.
That same year, Iyenemi became an Olympian, featuring in two matches for the Dream Team II at the 2000 Olympic Games in Australia.
Iyenemi was in attendance as his son put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Club Brugge, keeping him at the nineteen-time Belgian champions until June 30, 2027.
Two years after the prolific center forward signed his first professional contract, he has been rewarded with a new deal on the back of his brilliant performances for Club Brugge's youth teams.
The former Antwerp starlet joined Club Brugge in 2017 and has been playing for the club's U23 team since the 2023-2024 season.
Furo showcased his talent by scoring two goals during the Challenger Pro League opener against Lokeren-Temse on August 17.
On the international stage, he has represented Belgium at U15, U16 and U17 levels.
He became provisionally cap-tied to Belgium on March 20, 2024 after coming off the bench at halftime to replace another center forward of Nigerian descent Chike Van De Ven in a European Championship qualifier against Finland.
