Club chief confirms Osimhen could remain at Napoli if Chelsea or PSG don't complete move

Napoli chief Giovanni Manna has confirmed that Victor Osimhen could remain at the club if PSG or Chelsea fail to complete a move for the striker.

The 25-year-old's future is circled with uncertainty as none of the clubs being credited with an interest in him is yet to meet his valuation.

The stumbling block at the moment is his release clause which is close to €130m as well as his huge wages which is the highest in the history of the Parthenopeans.

Due to the inability to pay his release clause, Chelsea are proposing a loan plus an option to buy deal but their proposal is unattractive to Osimhen and his camp at the moment.

PSG are also reluctant to meet his valuation and will only pursue a move if they can sell either Gonçalo Ramos or Randal Kolo Muani though it has been speculated that the club will now consider signing a striker due to the injury to Ramos.

Speaking with Sky Sport Italia via Football Italia, Manna who is Napoli's director isn't ruling out the possibility of Osimhen staying at the club if either PSG or Chelsea can't get a deal done for him.

"It's an objective fact, what the coach said, the situation is blocked. Victor is an important player, with an important value and conditions. His desire is clear. We tried to maintain the integrity of the squad at this moment. We are not the only club in this situation and we'll see what happens over the next 10 days.

"At this time, it is not right to say what sensations there are. We are working with his entourage to find the best solution. As we said, he is an important player, so it's not that we can just find him anywhere.

"He is under contract for another two seasons, so clearly if we don't find a solution by August 30, we'll have to talk to the player."

The reigning African Men's Player of the Year missed all the Parthenopeans pre-season fixtures and is unsurprisingly absent in their matchday squad for their Serie A opener against Hellas Verona.
