Romano confirms Obi-Martin yet to agree new deal with Arsenal, prolific striker visits Man Utd
Published: July 19, 2024Manchester United have reportedly shown interest in acquiring the services of Chido Obi-Martin, following the expiration of his schoolboy registration at Arsenal.
Born in Glostrup, Denmark, Obi-Martin has garnered attention from various European clubs due to his standout performances for Arsenal youth teams.
The teenage forward netted an impressive 32 goals and delivered 3 assists in 18 appearances for Arsenal's U18 squad during the 2023-2024 campaign.
Arsenal are keen to tie him down to a new deal, offering him a scholarship and a professional deal to be signed upon turning 17, but at the moment, there is no green light from the player regarding a contract extension.
During a YouTube broadcast, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Denmark U17 international of Nigerian descent has received multiple offers from European clubs.
Romano noted that despite Arsenal offering a significant financial package in the new contract, Obi-Martin has not yet agreed to extend his stay at the club.
"Two weeks ago, Arsenal presented a very important proposal on the financial point of view, a very big proposal, they did their best to keep the player at the club," Romano stated.
"Mikel Arteta was also involved in the conversation. At the moment, Chido is still not giving the green light to the new contract at Arsenal.
"So Chido is keeping his options open and still not accepting Arsenal's proposal. This is why Arsenal, internally, start to feel he wants to go elsewhere.
"Arsenal are still waiting for the final answer but they believe Chido is probably gone."
According to Fabrizio Romano, Obi-Martin has visited several clubs around Europe. He claimed Manchester United are among the top clubs showing interest in Obi-Martin.
"Chido already visited clubs in Germany and England. We know there are interest from big clubs, links with Manchester United.
"They are among the many clubs interested in Obi-Martin," he said.
