Done deal: Golden Eaglets-eligible player signs new contract with Crystal Palace
Published: July 18, 2024Through their official website, English Premier League club Crystal Palace have announced the new intake of academy scholars for the 2024-2025 season.
Thirteen promising teenagers, including Golden Eaglets-eligible player Chuks Okoli, have put pen to paper on two-year scholarships.
Dean Benamar, Benjamin Casey, Euan Danaher, Jasper Judd, Jerome Osei Kyremeh, Jack Mason, David Montjen, Joshua Muwana, Stuart Oduro, Sean Somade, Charlie Walker-Smith and Harry Whitworth have all earned two-year scholarships.
Okoli has been promoted to Crystal Palace U18s team ahead of the forthcoming campaign and will be aiming to make his debuts in the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup before the end of his scholarship.
The Nigerian starlet will also be hoping to sign his first professional contract on or after his seventeenth birthday.
Okoli is uncapped by England at any level but he is seemingly a fan of the Nigeria national teams as he follows the Super Eagles on social media.
The most notable Nigerian player to sign scholarship forms with Crystal Palace is 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner and two-time World Cupper Victor Moses, who made his first team debut for the Eagles at the age of 16.
Other academy products of Nigerian descent include George Ndah, David Ozoh, Tayo Adaramola, 2023 Flying Eagles invitee Ademola Ola-Adebomi.
