Confirmed: Adeniran swaps St. Louis SC for Philadelphia Union in exchange for guaranteed N244m in GAM
Published: July 18, 2024
Major League Soccer club Philadelphia Union announced through their official website on Thursday that Samuel Adeniran has been acquired from St. Louis SC through 2024, in exchange for a guaranteed $150,000 (approximately N244 million in Nigerian currency) in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM).
General Allocation Money (GAM) can be used to re-sign an existing Major League Soccer player.
If certain performance incentives are achieved, St. Louis City SC could secure an additional guaranteed $300,000 in GAM, receiving $200,000 in 2025 and $100,000 in 2026.
Adeniran scored ten goals in 41 all-competition appearances for MLS Western Conference side St. Louis City SC, whom he joined from Seattle Sounders in December 2022.
The Texas-born Nigerian attacker began his professional career in Spain with Leganes' B team.
During his time there, he went on loan to Castellón and Guadalajara, scoring seven goals in 14 matches for Guadalajara.
Later, he played in Germany with Kickers Emden and Atlas Delmenhorst before moving back to the United States to represent Tacoma Defiance in the USL Championship.
Adeniran was a member of the Seattle Sounders squad that won the 2021-2022 Concacaf Champions League, though he made a single appearance in the competition, against FC Motagua in a last 16, second leg tie.
