Celtic boss includes three young players of Nigerian descent in  travelling squad to United States

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has included three young players of Nigerian descent in his traveling squad to the United States.

Joining Bosun LawaL (21) on the tour is Tobi Oluwayemi (21), a former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper who joined Celtic in 2019, and 18-year-old B team star Josh Dede.

Despite not yet making a senior appearance in a competitive game, Oluwayemi's potential is highly regarded.

Celtic's pre-season plans continue with the US tour, featuring high-quality friendly games against DC United, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

Upon arriving in the United States, the squad visited the White House, where a photo revealed the identities of the nine academy players included in the tour.

Bosun Lawal, born in Ireland, aims to impress Brendan Rodgers after a successful loan spell with Fleetwood Town in the third tier of English football.

Despite Fleetwood Town's relegation to League 2, Lawal showcased his readiness and quality to compete at the professional level.

During his time with Fleetwood Town, Lawal proved his versatility.

Initially known as a defender, he displayed exceptional quality with the ball and impressive passing ability, which saw him utilized in a pivot role in midfield.

He featured in 42 games, scoring six goals. His adaptability was evident as he played 19 times as a central defender, 17 times as a central midfielder, and four times as a defensive midfielder during the season.
