All but confirmed history-making striker Obi-Martin is leaving Arsenal, future to be decided as from next week
Published: July 16, 2024Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that it is all but confirmed that Danish-born Nigerian center forward Chido Obi-Martin is leaving Arsenal in the ongoing transfer window.
The 2007-born player is technically a free agent following the expiration of his schoolboy registration with Arsenal on June 30, 2024.
Chido Obi-Martin entered into the history books by being the first Arsenal U18 player to score more than 25 goals in a single season, smashing Folarin Balogun's club record in the process.
With 32 goals in eighteen appearances in the U18 Premier League during the 2023-2024 season, he cemented his reputation as one of the most promising teenagers in the world.
The Gunners offered Obi-Martin two new deals ahead of the forthcoming season, a scholarship which will be upgraded to a professional contract upon his seventeenth birthday in November 2024.
As of now, the Danish-Nigerian striker has yet to accept the offer from Arsenal, and everything indicates that he has played his last game for the Emirates Stadium outfit.
It is understood that Obi-Martin will make a final decision on his future as from next week, with a potential departure from Arsenal on the cards.
The 16-year-old shone for Denmark at the 2024 European U17 Championship, scoring two goals in five matches, and was named in the Team of the Tournament by the UEFA Technical Observer panel.
Per Mertesacker, Arsenal's academy chief, pulled off a significant transfer coup bringing Obi-Martin to Arsenal, as the Gunners saw off competition from London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
