Announcement imminent: Albanian champions KF Egnatia sign Nigeria U23 international
Published: July 12, 2024Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Albanian champions KF Egnatia are on the verge of confirming the capture of Nigeria U23 international Daniel Wotlai.
A central midfielder in the mould of Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi, Wotlai landed in Albania on Thursday ahead of his unveiling.
Only an official announcement is pending as the midfielder electronically signed a three-year contract with KF Egnatia before he departed Nigeria.
At the age of 21, he was a seasoned campaigner in the Nigeria Premier Football League, with over 100 games under his belt during his time with Abia Warriors.
On the international stage, he was a key member of the Olympic national team squad that failed to qualify for the 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations, and made his Super Eagles debut in a friendly against Costa Rica in November 2022.
As a player of the NPFL, Wotlai's exceptional talent and versatility was well well-known, particularly in marking, tackling, intercepting, passing, and his impressive stamina and strength.
KF Egnatia are competing in the first qualifying round of the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League by virtue of winning last season's Albanian Superliga.
