Hot 17yo NPFL winger Sani Suleiman set to join European club after breakout season
Published: July 05, 2024Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Akwa United's teenage sensation Sani Suleiman has already made a decision on his future ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
After a breakout season in the Nigeria Premier Football League with the Promise Keepers, Suleiman is attracting concrete interest from top-flight European clubs.
The 17-year-old has decided to leave Akwa United and he's certainly bound for Europe in the summer transfer window, with an announcement on his next club expected in the coming weeks, if not days.
Suleiman tallied 11 goals in nineteen appearances in the recently concluded season, playing a key role as Akwa United survived the drop on the final day of the season.
The dribbling wizard claimed two out of the last three NPFL Player of the Month accolades, winning in both March and May/June.
Of the ten goals scored by Akwa United in May and June, Suleiman accounted for five, including braces against Lobi Stars and Katsina United.
It is not only his goals that caught the attention of fans and pundits as he also impressed with his work rate and showed he is a team player by producing five assists over the course of the season.
Erstwhile Nigeria boss Finidi George intended to name the teenage prodigy in his squad list for the national team's June internationals against South Africa and Republic of Benin, but jettisoned the plan after AC Milan winger Samuel was declared fit for the World Cup qualifiers.
Suleiman is also on the radar of Nigeria's youth team coaches, and trained with the Flying Eagles before the 2023 African Games.
