'The superstar of Arsenal academy' - Fabrizio Romano confirms Bayern still pushing to sign Obi-Martin
Published: June 24, 2024
The future of Denmark U17 international of Nigerian descent, Chido Obi-Martin remains unresolved six days before his schoolboy registration expires at Arsenal.
As first reported by allnigeriasoccer.com two months ago, the Gunners ave offered two new deals to Chido Obi-Martin in a bid to ward off interest from top European clubs.
The Danish-Nigerian wonderkid has been offered a scholarship which will be upgraded to a professional contract upon his seventeenth birthday in November 2024.
Arsenal have not received a positive feedback from Obi-Martin and his representatives regarding his final decision on extending his contract, throwing his future into doubt as of now.
Last season, he cemented his reputation as one of the most promising teenagers in English football after ending the campaign with 32 goals in eighteen matches in the U18 Premier League, smashing Folarin Balogun's club record in the process.
According to transfer market specialist, Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich are still working on deal to sign Chido Obi-Martin this summer.
Speaking on his YouTube page, Romano said: "Bayern are also still pushing for Chido Obi-Martin, the superstar of Arsenal academy - one of many because Arsenal have many fantastic talents.
"For Chido, Bayern are still in the mix and then on the other side they also consider Marc Guiu because they had positive contacts with the player's side, agent and family over the weekend."
On the international stage, Obi-Martin was named in the 2024 European U17 Championship Team of the Tournament, starring as Denmark reached the semifinals of the competition.
