Sevilla eye Everton target Ndidi as replacement for Leicester City midfielder
Published: May 30, 2024According to Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla are eyeing a move for Everton target Wilfred Ndidi as a replacement for Boubakary Soumaré, who is set to return to Leicester City after the expiration of his loan spell.
The report states that Sevilla Sporting Director Víctor Orta, is looking to sign free agents and is interested in the Super Eagles midfielder whose contract with Leicester City ends next month.
This comes as a result of the Spanish outfit being in a bad financial situation which will require the club to sell players on huge wages this summer .
The seven-time UEFA Europa League champions will have to bring in a host of midfielders with the departure of Soumaré,Lucien Agoumé and the possible exit of Óliver Torres.
Sevilla will have a tough task in convincing Ndidi to join the club as the Nigeria international is said to prefer a move to a club that will participate in the UEFA Champions League next season.
While Atletico Madrid would have been the best place for the Nigeria international, the 11-time Spanish champions have passed up the opportunity to sign him.
If playing in Europe is the desire of the veteran midfielder, then Lyon who have also shown interest in his services could be a good option as the French side have qualified for the Europa Conference League playoffs having finished 6th in the Ligue 1.
