Arsenal handed boost in their attempts to sign Dutch-Nigerian striker
Published: May 29, 2024
After failing to secure the Premier League title for the second straight season, Arsenal are expected to be proactive in the summer to provide Mikel Arteta with a strong challenge for the title next campaign.
With the aim of providing additional firepower to their front line, Arsenal are keen on acquiring a striker to complement the performances of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, who collectively tallied 17 goals in the Premier League last season.
Several names have emerged in Arsenal's striker hunt, with Victor Osimhen, Alexander Isak, and Joshua Zirkzee all linked to the North London club.
In a report by Corriere dello Sport, via Football. London, Arsenal's pursuit of Zirkzee, a Netherlands U21 international of Nigerian descent, has received a significant boost.
It's suggested that Zirkzee's agent, Kia Joorabchian, is actively advocating for his client to make the move to Arsenal.
Joorabchian, a known supporter of Arsenal, reportedly shares a close relationship with the club's sporting director, Edu Gaspar.
Arsenal have already tabled a contract offer for Zirkzee, which is believed to be superior to an offer from Bayern Munich.
With a £35 million release clause in his contract with Bologna, Zirkzee could depart the Italian club this summer.
The young striker's impressive form last season, where he netted 11 goals and provided 4 assists in 34 appearances, has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.
