Super Eagles midfielder Ndidi likely to reject Leicester contract offer if Maresca joins Chelsea
Published: May 29, 2024It is looking likely that Wilfred Ndidi will end his seven-year association with Premier League new boys Leicester City in the summer transfer window, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
The Super Eagles midfielder has roughly one month left on his contract with the Foxes, whom he joined from Racing Genk in January 2017.
Leicester City have offered Ndidi fresh terms to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium but no agreement is in place as of now.
The Nath Boys product has yet to commit his future to the 2023-2024 Championship winners because of the coaching situation at Leicester City, with speculation linking Enzo Maresca with an imminent move to Premier League giants Chelsea as their new coach.
The Italian football tactician has held positive talks with those upstairs at Chelsea and he is poised to append his signature to a multi-year contract in the coming days.
Leicester City are unlikely to convince Ndidi to sign a new contract after Maresca completes his move to Stamford Bridge.
Thanks to his impressive displays over the course of the 2023-2024 season, the Nigerian is not lacking suitors, with teams in the English Premier League, Serie A, La Liga and French Ligue 1 monitoring his situation.
Ndidi flourished under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, registering twelve goal involvements (6 goals, 6 assists) after he was given more freedom in the middle of the park.
Overall, he has seventeen goals and seventeen assists in 273 all-competition appearances for the Foxes.
