Noni Madueke cites Man Utd legend, ex-Chelsea winger, 2 others as players who influenced his game
Published: May 18, 2024Speaking in an interview with ESPN, Super Eagles-eligible player Noni Madueke has named Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben, Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr. as the players who have influenced his game.
Madueke is one of the brightest talents in English football and that informed the decision of Premier League giants Chelsea, to sign him from PSV in January 2023.
He is also one of the vital players for the England U21s and played a key role in their UEFA European U21 Championship triumph last summer.
As it is common for young footballers to mirror their game after an older colleague or a retired footballer, the Anglo-Nigerian forward has also revealed those that have helped improve his game.
"The main [inspiration] of course was [Cristiano] Ronaldo, that's probably when I was a bit younger, but Mbappé, Vinicius Jr., I watch those type of players and try and take bits from their game," Madueke said.
"Arjen Robben [too]. They are decisive. They win games on their own and they entertain crowds. That's what I like to do as well."
After struggling in the first half of the season with fitness and game time, he has now established himself as one of the vital players for Mauricio Pochettino, playing a key role in Chelsea's current run of form.
The England youth international has started the last eight games in the Premier League and has five goal involvements within that period.
