'He's really exceptional' - Former Serie A top scorer hails Osimhen for his aerial prowess
Published: May 10, 2024
Former Serie A top scorer Guiseppe Savoldi has hailed reigning African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen for his aerial prowess which he has shown consistently over the years for Napoli.
The Super Eagles forward is known as one of the finest strikers in European football particularly in the past two seasons, finishing as Serie A top scorer in the last campaign.
One of the attributes that makes the 25-year-old a special player is his ability to score consistently with his head, having recorded five headed goals across all competitions for Napoli this term.
He scored with another headed attempt against Udinese last weekend which excited a lot of fans and pundits including Savoldi who has revealed how impressed he has been with the Nigerian forward's quality particularly his aerial prowess.
"Victor Osimhen scored a goal at Savoldi, in Udine? Beyond his characteristics and comparisons, he is a sensational player, a driving force: if he is well and is on the day, he makes the difference," Savoldi told Radio Marte via Area Napoli.
"The year last time he played alone. Stork-like legs that allow him to get everywhere... With his head, he's really exceptional, but I felt where the ball would go and I was aiming to get ahead of the defender."
Osimhen is hoping to finish the season strongly having been dealt a great blow with the poor form of Napoli and his injury worries.
He has scored four goals in his last five Serie A games to take his tally to 15 for the season which is still miles off the 26 bagged in 2022-2023.
