Super Eagles striker Dessers battles James Tavernier, 3 others for Rangers Player of the Month
Published: May 01, 2024Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers is in the running alongside James Tavernier and three other first team stars for Rangers' Player of the Month for April 2024.
The 29-year-old failed to find the back of the net in his first three games under the month in consideration but scored three times in his last two games.
He got the winning goal against St.Mirren last weekend to help Rangers start the Scottish Premiership top six split on a winning note and also bagged a brace against Hearts to help the Light Blues advance to the Scottish FA Cup final.
The Belgium-born forward also recorded an assist which he got in the Old Firm derby against Celtic to finish the month with three goal involvements.
Besides Dessers, Mohamed Diomande, James Tavernier who is the the top scorer for the Scottish giants, Jack Butland and Todd Cantwell have all been nominated for the award.
The Super Eagles forward has won the award once this season having previously scooped it in January, beating Butland, John Souttar, John Lundstram and Ridvan Yilmaz to the prize.
With his recent rich vein of form, the former US Cremonese forward will be hoping to finish the season strongly by helping Rangers to domestic treble for the eight time in the club's history.
Philippe Clement's side have clinched the Scottish League Cup already, are in the final of the Scottish Cup and trail Celtic with three points with four games left to be played.
