Versatile Celtic-owned defender Bosun Lawal named in League One Team of the Week
Published: April 15, 2024Versatile Irish-Nigerian defender Bosun Lawal has been named in Sky Bet League One Team of the Week having starred in Fleetwood's 2-0 victory over Northampton Town on Saturday at the Highbury Stadium
The Celtic loanee scored and assisted to help his loan club record their first win since early March and breathe life into their fight to beat the drop.
The 20-year-old delivered a low cross for fellow Irish-Nigerian Paul Omochere who tucked the ball home to open the scoring in the 5th minute.
At the half-hour mark, the Ireland youth international was in the right place to slot Brendan Wiredu's pass into the net having made a striker-esque run into the penalty area.
Having recorded two-goal involvements, he finished the game with a whoscored.com rating of 8.3, the most of any player on the pitch.
Lawal has been a mainstay in Fleetwood Town's starting lineup this season, failing to start just two games that he has been named in the matchday squad by former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam who is the current manager of the League One side.
He primarily plays as a defender but has been deployed in the midfield since the turn of the year and has notched four goals and two assists since then.
