Cypriot club Apollon Limassol receive bid for Barcelona-reared central defender Ekpolo
Published: March 22, 2024Cypriot First Division club Apollon Limassol have reportedly received a bid for Barcelona academy product Godswill Ekpolo.
Fotbolltransfers making reference to Cypriot news outlet Protathlima is reporting that Swedish Allsvenskan side BK Häcken made a bid of 250,000 euros for the services of the Nigerian-born central defender.
BK Häcken are willing to up their bid to re-sign Ekpolo but Apollon Limassol have made it clear he is not for sale despite having three months left on his contract.
Apollon Limassol want to extend Ekpolo's contract, although the parties are not yet in agreement.
In addition to the youth team of Barcelona, Ekpolo counts BK Häcken, IFK Norrköping, Fleetwood Town and Mérida AD as his previous clubs.
Last year, he left Swedish football and signed for Apollon Limassol, where he has directly participated in five goals (3 goals, 2 assists) in 41 all-competition appearances.
During his time at BK Hacken, Ekpolo played in 113 games across all competitions, registering six goals and ten assists.
Born in Benin City, he has committed his international future to Nigeria over Spain where he was raised and trained with the Dream Team before the 2016 Olympic Games.
BK Häcken finished third in the Allsvenskan in the 2023 season and have in their ranks Nigerian midfielder Ishaq Abdulrazak who is on loan from Anderlecht.
