No cause for alarm: Osimhen returns to group training ahead of Napoli's Serie A clash versus Torino
Published: March 06, 2024Victor Osimhen is seemingly in contention to make his 23rd appearance of the season on Friday evening when Napoli take on Torino at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year did not train alongside his teammates on Tuesday and instead did personalized work in the gym.
Napoli informed through their official website on Wednesday that Osimhen returned to group training this morning.
The Napoli squad began the session on court 2 with activation and strength circuit.
Subsequently the group moved to field 3 where they were engaged in tactical technical work and small-field games, with Osimhen involved in the session.
Osimhen - a targeted man at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations - was not in tiptop condition upon his return to Italy following the conclusion of the tournament in Ivory Coast and as a result, he was not called up for the visit of Genoa.
The 25-year-old has put the disappointment of not winning the AFCON behind him given that he has been firing on all cylinders in recent games.
With the exception of the match against Juventus, he has found the net in all the games he has played in for Napoli in 2024.
All things being equal, Osimhen should be named in Napoli's gameday squad versus Torino before heading to Spain for a huge Champions League match with Barcelona.
