Werder Bremen speed machine reacts to reports linking him with Nigeria, Germany national teams

Werder Bremen winger Justin Njinmah has reacted to reports in the local and German press linking him with the Nigeria and Germany national teams.

Born in Hamburg, the former Borussia Dortmund youth teamer qualifies to represent Nigeria through his father as well as his native Germany.

Njinmah has put himself on the radar of the German Football Association following a breakout season at Werder Bremen.

Blessed with pace, the 23-year-old has clocked a top speed of 35.53 km/h, making him the 12th fastest player in the Bundesliga.

When he made his first appearance in the Bundesliga in September 2023, he became the second Werder Bremen player to score and assist on his debut, following in the footsteps of Diego.

Njinmah, who could also represent the Super Eagles, is excited about the possibility of playing international football.

Speaking to German newspaper Bild, he said: "Nick Woltemade showed me in the dressing room that that was in the article.

"When you hear that you're on the national team's list and they notice you, it motivates every player to keep going and get even better.

"If you continue to accelerate now, it might not be as far off as you always imagined."

Njinmah has five goals and two assists to show for his 21 appearances in the German top-flight in the 2023-2024 season.

His contract with Werder Bremen runs until at least the summer of 2025 and the Green-Whites are already working on extending his stay.
