Deported Super Eagles midfielder is back in Denmark and battling to get his residence permit back
Published: February 20, 2024
Super Eagles midfielder Izunna Uzochukwu, who was deported from Denmark, is back in the Scandinavian country and is trying again to get his residence permit back.
According to bold.dk citing Sport Fyn, the FC Ebedei product played in a test game for B 1909 against Næsby's U19 team on Saturday.
Since 2018, the former FC Midtjylland and OB player Uzuchukwu has been fighting to get his Danish residence permit back, which was taken from him when he switched to Chinese club MZ Hakka.
Uzochukwu has both a girlfriend and a daughter in Denmark, which is why he came back after his stay in China and appealed the deportation.
In December, however, this was rejected, which is why he had to pack his bags despite his close relations with Denmark.
Uzochukwu has not given up on getting a residence permit and his lawyer is currently working to get the papers in order.
The 33-year-old played a total of 201 matches in the Danish Superliga between 2009 and 2018 and has worn the colours of Aalesund and Amkar Perm in the past apart from the aforementioned teams.
