Arsenal, Chelsea-linked striker Victor Boniface reveals preferred destination if he leaves Bayer
Published: January 08, 2024Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has revealed his preference to play in the La Liga over the Premier League amidst links with Chelsea and Arsenal.
The 23-year-old is one of the most in-form strikers in Europe at the moment and has played a huge role in Bayer Leverkusen's surprising challenge for the Bundesliga title, having scored 10 goals in sixteen games.
Not only has he impressed in the German top-flight, but has also been able to replicate the same form in the UEFA Europa League, scoring 4 goals in five games.
His performances have attracted the interest of Chelsea and Arsenal with the two London clubs identifying him as a player who could solve their goalscoring woes.
The Nigeria international has revealed his preference for playing in Spain and Germany over England but hasn't closed the door on playing in the Premier League.
"I never liked the Premier League. I don't think it is just my style, I love to play in Spain or Germany," Boniface told The Obi One Podcast.
"Don't get me wrong, I am not saying if the right moment for me to come to England is there, I would say No.
"What I am trying to say like that when I was young, I loved the Spanish league so much and the German league because of the way they play, you understand, good football but I am not saying if I was offered a good offer in England, I would refuse."
"I am just saying generally that if I were offered to pick one, I would pick Spain."
Boniface is currently in the Super Eagles camp preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations which starts next Saturday and is one of the Nigerian players waiting to make their debut in the tournament.
If fully fit, he is expected to lead the line alongside 2023 CAF Men's Player of the Year Victor Osimhen in Jose Peseiro's 4-4-2 formation.
