Photo confirmation: Osimhen signs new deal with Napoli amid links with Arsenal and Chelsea
Published: December 23, 2023
Through official channels, Napoli have confirmed that Victor Osimhen has finally signed a contract extension with the Serie A champions, amid speculation linking the striker with Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea.
Fabrizio Romano posted on social media on Saturday afternoon that Osimhen has agreed to extend his stay at the Diego Maradona Stadium to 2026 and a release clause in the region of €130m will be inserted into his new deal.
Napoli have been desperate to keep hold of the 24-year-old and rejected all approaches to take him off their books in the summer with the reason not far-fetched.
The Nigeria international wrote his name in the annals of the Naples-based club last campaign when he helped them scoop the Serie A for the first time in 33 years and has now been rewarded for his impact.
Osimhen, who joined Napoli in 2020, has made 118 appearances across all competitions, mustering 84 goal involvements( 67 goals, seventeen assists) and has won one title with the club.
With the 2023 CAF Men's Player of the Year signing a new deal with defending Italian champions, it is difficult to see him leave the side in January.
Arsenal, Chelsea and other interested clubs will stand a better chance of luring him away from Naples in the summer when they can trigger his release clause.
