Lecce centre-back names Osimhen as the most difficult attacker to mark in Italy's Serie A
Published: November 24, 2023
Lecce central defender Federico Baschirotto has described Napoli forward Victor Osimhen as the most difficult attacker to mark as far as the Italian Serie A is concerned.
Baschirotto has come up against the Napoli number 9 on two occasions in the Italian top-flight, with the Nigeria national teamer scoring with a header in a 4-0 win back in September.
In an interview with DAZN Talks via FC Inter 1908, Baschirotto highlighted Osimhen's quality and also praised Inter Milan's 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina, Lautaro Martinez, who finished second in the Golden Boot race with 21 goals in 38 matches last season.
The Lecce star revealed that he's more comfortable in a back four but has also put in shifts in a back three set-up .
"The most difficult attacker to mark was Osimhen, also Lautaro , in my opinion the strongest in the championship," Baschirotto said.
Osimhen has been inactive for club and country since October 13 due to a hamstring injury he sustained whilst on international duty with Nigeria.
The 24-year-old has returned to group training ahead of Napoli's trip to Bergamo where they will be facing Gian Piero Gasperini's Atalanta side on Saturday.
Napoli new head coach Walter Mazzarri will want to get off to a winning start and seek to close the gap on leaders Inter Milan who don't play until Sunday, November 26.
