'Will reach his peak again' - Gent chairman backs Gift Orban to rediscover his best form
Published: November 09, 2023Gent Chairman Ivan De Witte is confident that Gift Orban will rediscover his prolific form after a tough start to the season that has seen him muster just 3 goals in the Jupiler Pro League.
The Nigerian striker has struggled to hit the lofty heights he set last season when he arrived at the Ghelamco Arena which has made him lose his place in the starting XI.
He failed to find the back of the net in six consecutive league games which is strange for a player that scored 9 goals in his first seven games in the competition.
The 21-year-old finally broke his goal drought last weekend in the Buffalos 3-1 win over Sporting Charleroi.
De Witte has expressed his optimism that the diminutive forward will get back to his goalscoring best.
"Gift will reach his peak again," De Witte told Belgian radio and television network Sporza.
"There is also a lot of competition now that Tissoudali is resurfacing."
Orban's struggles have not deterred him from being linked with a move elsewhere as he is on the radar Fulham and Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.
However, it remains to be seen whether Gent will end ties with the striker in January.
