'Has the club's permission' - Garcia reveals when Victor Osimhen will return to Napoli
Published: November 03, 2023
Speaking at Friday's pre-match press conference before his side's Serie A clash against Salernitana, Napoli manager Rudi Garcia said that he expects Victor Osimhen to return to the club next week.
The CAF Player of the Year nominee is reportedly in Nigeria but will head to Naples in the coming days to continue his rehabilitation.
Osimhen has been sidelined since October 13 after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty with the Super Eagles in a friendly against Saudi Arabia.
Since then he has been unavailable for selection in three consecutive matches played by Napoli - against Hellas Verona, AC Milan and Union Berlin.
Napoli have not put a timeframe on Osimhen's return but it is looking likely that the number 9 will miss the club's next three fixtures plus the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
"Victor has the club's permission, he will be with us next week. From a clinical point of view, the doctors will give me details on his conditions. I am interested in all my men but above all with regards to the technical aspect when I have them available , because that is my role and my main job," Garcia told Napoli's official website .
Napoli have coped without their talisman, picking up wins against Union Berlin and Hellas Verona, and came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with AC Milan in a thrilling match at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona last Sunday.
