'For their own good' - Pundit urges Rangers boss to drop Dessers, ex-PSV striker to the bench
Published: November 01, 2023Senior Rangers writer Christoper Jack has urged manager Philippe Clement to drop Cyriel Dessers and former PSV Eindhoven striker Sam Lammers to the bench on Wednesday night when the Light Blues face off with Dundee in a Scottish Premiership match at Scot Foam Stadium.
The former Dutch-based forwards joined Rangers from Italian clubs in the summer transfer window and have struggled to impress despite getting a regular run of games.
Dessers and Lammers have been targeted by the Rangers boo boys in recent games due to their underwhelming performances.
While the Nigeria international has managed only two goals in the Scottish Premiership, the former Netherlands U21 international scored his only Rangers goal back in August.
Jack wrote in his column for Rangers Review: "Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have to be taken out of the firing line for their own good and Danilo simply must start, even if he can’t get through the full 90 minutes."
Since Belgian football tactician Clement began his reign as Rangers coach, he has kept his faith in Dessers, having named the Nigerian in the starting lineup for three straight games.
Super Eagles central defender Leon Balogun has been inactive for the Light Blues since August 19.
