'Not scared to wait' - Fabrizio Romano reveals Napoli will make it difficult for clubs to sign Osimhen in January

Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has provided details on why Napoli are unwilling to sell Nigerian star Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old is yet again a subject of interest from European giants particularly Chelsea who are in dire need of a prolific striker following their struggles in front of goal since the start of the campaign.

Osimhen is yet to sign a new deal with the Partenopeans and that is a motivating factor for clubs who are willing to acquire his signature.

However, interested clubs might have to wait till the summer as Napoli have ruled out selling him in the January transfer window.

Romano has explained the reason behind the Italian giants' reluctance to sell the Nigerian striker in January 2024.

"For Napoli, Osimhen is a really important player, and the club are not scared to wait until the summer to sell him, even if he hasn't signed a new contract yet," he wrote in his Daily Briefing via rousingthekop.

"They did the same with Kalidou Koulibaly in the past, even though there were always rumours about him, so Napoli always do their best to keep their players.

"It's not been an easy season for them, but they're hoping to do important things in Serie A and Europe, so I think they will try to keep Osimhen.

"Maybe a crazy bid could change things, I think they will make it really difficult for clubs to sign Osimhen. At the moment they are not even mentioning a price, so I think it will be more than difficult for any potential suitors.

Napoli have failed to hit the heights they set last term and the injury to Osimhen has not helped their cause.

They sit 5th on the Serie A table at the moment, one point adrift of the last Champions League spot and seven points adrift of table-toppers Inter Milan.
