'For a striker, it is important to score' - Rangers striker happy hardworking Dessers scored against Hibs
Published: October 23, 2023Rangers striker Abdallah Sima has declared support for Cyriel Dessers who is struggling to find his best form at the moment.
The Nigeria international has only four goals since his arrival at the Ibrox Stadium in the summer and didn't get his first Scottish Premiership goal until matchday 6 despite starting four of the previous five games.
The 28-year-old only got his second league goal last weekend against Hibernian which was also the first game under Rangers' new boss, Philippe Clement.
Sima has expressed his delight at seeing the Nigeria international on the scoresheet once again and has declared that the team will keep supporting him
In quotes relayed by Football Scotland, Sima said: "But Cyriel was very happy to score and we were very happy for him also. For a striker, it is important to score. For him, it has been hard because he had not managed to score for a few games. So we are all happy that he has scored again.
"He is someone who works really hard for the team. In life, sometimes there are hard moments. But even in those moments, he has worked so hard and has remained positive.
"For me, I am happy with my goals, but I am just as happy for the other guys to score and it was great that Cyriel got his goal to help us. We will keep helping him to score again."
Dessers, the 2021/2022 UEFA Europa Conference League top scorer, will be glad to have gotten off the mark under his new manager.
He will be hoping to continue from where he left it against Hibernian when Rangers face Sparta Prague on matchday 3 of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday at epet ARENA.
