Bayer Leverkusen goal poacher Boniface becomes second-most valuable Nigerian player behind Osimhen
Published: October 19, 2023Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface has become the second-most valuable Nigerian player.
According to the latest market valuation from Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old's value has risen astronomically from 12 million euros to 40 million euros.
The only Nigerian player more expensive than Boniface is Napoli's star striker Victor Osimhen who is valued at 120 million euros.
This increase in valuation places him as the 3rd most-valued player in Bayer Leverkusen, 18th in the Bundesliga, 19th among center forwards and 139th in the world.
The increase in stock of the former Royale Union Saint-Gilloise striker comes as no surprise as his exploits have increased rapidly in the past twelve months.
He was last season's UEFA Europa League top scorer and has needed no adaptation to settle to life in the Bundesliga, registering 9 goal involvements in his first seven appearances in the German top-flight.
With Osimhen battling with a grade 2 hamstring injury, the Bayer Leverkusen forward could be one of the players José Peseiro will be relying upon when the Super Eagles face Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month.
