Boniface, Ogbu join West Ham and Brighton stars, 7 others in Europa League Team of the Week
Published: September 22, 2023Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface and former Flying Eagles centre-back Igoh Ogbu have been named in Whoscored's UEFA Europa League Team of the Week for matchday one.
The duo were named alongside Brighton & Hove Albion striker João Pedro, West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse, and former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka in the ceremonial Best XI.
Boniface starred in Bayern Leverkusen's 4-0 thrashing of BK Hacken as he scored and set up a goal in the encounter to take his goal involvements to 9 for the season.
Ogbu also helped Slave Prague seal a 2-0 win over Servette with a perfect header in the 58th minute of the encounter which was also his first-ever goal in the competition
Bayern Leverkusen have four players in the team which is the most, while Slavia Prague, Brighton, West Ham, Sporting Lisbon, Rennes, Molde and Sparta Prague have one apiece.
