Boniface labelled a 'great and special player' by Bayer Leverkusen coach ahead of trip to Bayern
Published: September 14, 2023Bayern Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has revealed the quality that makes Victor Boniface a great and special player.
The Nigeria international has hit the ground running since his arrival at the BayArena in the summer transfer window.
He has scored four goals in three games which is the second joint-best in the Bundesliga and is bettered only by VfB Stuttgart's striker Serhou Guirassy who has notched five goals.
Boniface entered the Bundesliga history books by joining Paco Alcacer and Erling Haaland as the only players to have recorded 6 goal contributions in their first 3 games in the German topflight.
In his pre-match conference ahead of Bayern Leverkusen's tie with Bayern Munich, Alonso has disclosed what makes the Super Eagles forward a special player besides being prolific in front of goal.
In quotes relayed by the club's official Twitter account, the Spanish gaffer was quoted to have said :"He's a great player, a special player. He's a striker but he doesn't just play for himself, he's generous. We are really happy to have him here" .
Nothing could prove the Liverpool legend's statement more than the fact that Boniface has 2 assists to his name already, which is the fifth-highest in the Bundesliga at the moment.
The 22-year-old will be hoping to improve his tally when they face the Bavarians tomorrow in what promises to be an interesting encounter.
