Boavista turn down Torpedo Moscow's N1.6b offer for Super Eagles central defender
Published: September 11, 2023
Boavista have rejected Torpedo Moscow's offer for Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem.
As reported by Portuguese sports newspaper O Jogo, Boavista have turned down a 2 million euros bid (approximately N1.6b in Nigerian currency) for the central defender from the Russian side.
While the transfer window in Portugal is closed, Russian can still sign players till the 14th of September.
Awaziem has previously been linked with FC Nantes and was on the verge of joining French Ligue 1 but the move fell through.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan with Hajduk Split and played a pivotal role in the club's Croatian Football Cup triumph.
The Nigeria international has begun the season in flying colours, helping Boavista to the summit of the Liga Portugal as he has started all four league games of the Portuguese side.
The Porto Academy product was excluded from Jose Peseiro's 23-man list to face São Tomé and Príncipe in the last game of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
He last featured for the Super Eagles in a 1-0 loss to Ecuador last year.
