'I already knew him because he's Nigerian' - AC Milan new boy Okafor on Chukwueze
Published: August 08, 2023Cap-tied Switzerland international of Nigerian descent Noah Okafor says he's delighted to be teammates with Samuel Chukwueze.
AC Milan bolstered their frontline in the summer transfer window with the addition of Okafor from Red Bull Salzburg, while Chukwueze was acquired from Villarreal.
The Nigerian and Swiss wingers have signed contracts that will keep them at AC Milan until June 30, 2028.
Born in Binningen, Switzerland to a Nigerian father and Swiss mom, Okafor is familiar with Chukwueze because he keeps tabs on the Nigerian national team.
Following the end of the United States tour, the Milan players resumed training on Sunday, with Okafor and Chukwueze training together for the first time in preparation for Tuesday's Silvio Berlusconi Trophy clash against Monza.
Speaking during his presentation as an AC Milan player, Okafor was quoted as saying by Tuttomercatoweb.com: "Chukwueze? Yesterday I met him for the first time.
"I already knew him because he's Nigerian, I've spoken to him other times on other occasions and I'm very happy to have him as a teammate".
Okafor has earned fourteen caps for his country of birth Switzerland, scoring two goals.
The 23-year-old won four Austrian Bundesliga titles and three Austrian Cups during his time at Red Bull Salzburg.
