'Osimhen has time' - Ex-Flying Eagles coach sends transfer message to much-coveted striker
Published: July 06, 2023Former Flying Eagles coach John Obuh has admonished Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen not to mind calls for him to head to Saudi Arabia with some high profile players poached by super rich clubs in the Saudi League.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Arsenal are some of the club's linked with the Nigeria international who scored 26 league goals last season.
Obuh, who led Nigeria's U-20 national team to the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia, bared his mind in an interview with Brila FM, Lagos.
Serie A champions, Napoli are said to have offered a two-year contraction extension to the Nigerian and Obuh believes it will serve his career best to remain in Italy.
"He has opportunities to build empire for himself," Obuh said to Brila FM.
"Osimhen has time unlike those going to Saudi. Let him repeat the goal-scoring feat that he had last season.
"Let the next contract that he will sign not be long - not more than two years. If he can do that, people will say Osimhen has arrived.
"It depends on what Osimhen wants. Let him not be under intense pressure. He has to think about it very well," Obuh reiterated.
The 2023/2024 Italian top-flight will start on August 19-20 2023 and ends on May 26, 2024.
