Bayern chief reveals German champions can spend N50b on a striker amid Osimhen links
Published: June 12, 2023Bayern Munich President, Herbert Hainer has suggested that the club can afford Napoli striker Victor Osimhen if they feel he is the perfect fit.
Bayern Munich have been one of the teams linked with Osimhen but it was previously claimed that the Nigerian would be too expensive for the German Bundesliga champions.
The Bavarians had a poor campaign by their standard despite winning the Bundesliga and one of the reasons is their inability to replace Robert Lewandowski who departed for Barcelona last summer.
Bayern are desperate to get a striker this summer and they have been linked with Osimhen, Dušan Vlahović, Harry Kane and Randal Kolo Muani.
"FC Bayern is capable of spending €100 million (approximately N50b in Nigerian currency). But for that to happen, everything has to come together. It is well-established that we are looking for a striker," Hainer told BILD TV, via Footballtransfers.com.
"But there is a limited number of options and they are all very expensive. We are on the right path, however.
We will pay close attention to the market and then decide who fits FC Bayern best. We are going to spend a lot of money.
"They are looking for a striker who is good enough for FC Bayern in order to help us challenge in national and international competitions.
"There are of course several strikers [who are being considered] and their names are obviously always mentioned in the media. Be it Kolo Muani, be it Osimhen, Harry Kane, Vlahovic - there are several".
Osimhen has attracted the interest of heavyweights following his performances for Napoli last season, scoring 31 goals in all competitions.
The Super Eagles striker will cost around 130 million to 150 million euros and Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis is not ready to listen to lesser offers
French heavyweights PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United are also keen on signing the 2015 Fifa u17 World Cup Golden Boot winner.
