'Many lies were told' - Italian pundit claims Osimhen was not sincere about his Napoli future
Published: June 09, 2023
A well-known Italian pundit Enrico Fedele has declared that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen lied over his ambition to continue playing for Serie A champions Napoli.
The club marked the 'Scudetto party' in the aftermath of winning the title in the recently concluded campaign - their 'first since 1990.
Fedele insisted that the Nigerian was keen not to ruin the evening of fun for the Napolitanos.
In an interview with Radio Marte, former sporting director Fedele spoke on a number of issues affecting the club including the contract of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen.
"The Nigerian wants to stay in Naples and he reiterated this at the Scudetto party, stating that the last word belongs to president Aurelio De Laurentiis?" Fedele said.
"Many lies were told that evening, in my opinion: non-truths, because it was a party and he did not want to ruin the joyful atmosphere that had arisen.
"To ensure that Osimhen really stays in Campania, Napoli must give him ten million euros, because other clubs will offer over one hundred million euros for the price tag and the players ask, in proportion, to earn ten percent."
Osimhen is attracting interest from top clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain after a banner season that saw him score 31 goals in all competitions.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner became the first African player to win the Paolo Rossi Award, was named Best Striker in the Serie A, and also earned a spot in the Team of the Season.
