Former Nigeria U23 striker Taiwo wanted by Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol
Published: May 30, 2023
Former Nigeria U23 international Abdulraham Taiwo is drawing interest from Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol.
The striker was loaned out to Spartak Trnava last September and is unlikely to return to parent club Sønderjyske ahead of next season.
According to Der Nordschleswiger, Sheriff Tiraspol are trying to acquire the 24-year-old Nigerian, who came from DAC Dunajská Streda in the summer of 2021 and signed a contract with Sønderjyske until June 2025.
Taiwo has been declared surplus to requirements at Sønderjyske after falling out with the management of the club, with the sports director Esben Hansen labeling him a bad purchase.
Before his loan move to Slovakia, he was demoted to Sønderjyske's U19 team.
Taiwo has had a great season at Spartak Trnava, scoring a career best 19 goals in 27 matches, and helped them win the Slovak Cup.
The former Kwara United man also lists Bursaspor, Zbrojovka Brno, Nitra, Karviná and Zemplín Michalovce as his previous clubs.
Nigerian offensive players Rasheed Akanbi, Iyayi Atiemwen and Origbaajo Ismaila won the Moldovan Super Liga with Sheriff Tiraspol in 2022-2023.
