Gift Orban's goal helps Gent qualify for next season's Europa Conference League
Published: May 20, 2023
Gift Orban was on the scoresheet yet again for Gent as they battled to a 2-2 draw with Circle Brugge at the Ghelamco Arena in the Jupiler League playoffs on Saturday.
Kévin Denkey gave Cercle Brugge the lead in the 18th minute before Gift Orban drew level for the home side in the 49th minute when he slotted the ball home from Andrew Hjulsager's pass.
Ayase Euda restored the away side's lead in the 70th before Hugo Cuypers' 86th-minute goal ensured that points were shared between both sides.
Orban's goal today is his fourth against Cercle Brugge having netted a hat-trick against them last week in the reverse fixture.
The 20-year-old has now tallied 6 goals in four games in the Jupiler Pro League play-offs and has notched 20 goals in all competitions for Gent.
The result confirms the Buffalo's place in the UEFA Europa Conference League and their participation in Europe for the 9th consecutive season with two games left to be played in the Jupiler Pro League Playoffs
