RB Leipzig sporting director scouted RUSG striker Victor Boniface against Bayer Leverkusen
Published: April 27, 2023Royale Union Saint-Gilloise striker Victor Boniface is a player of interest to German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
According to Sky Deutschland, RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder scouted the Nigerian attacker in the Europa League quarterfinals clash between Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Bayer Leverkusen.
Boniface impressed in the first leg, scoring in a 1-1 draw at the BayArena, but could not prevent the Belgian Pro League side from being eliminated from the competition following a 4-1 defeat at Lotto Park last Thursday.
The Super Eagles hopeful is not the only center forward being tracked by RB Leipzig ahead of the reopening of the transfer window, with RC Lens' Lois Openda also on their wish list.
The German broadcaster has reiterated that Boniface is not viewed as a replacement for Christopher Nkunku who is heading to Chelsea once the season ends, but is classed as a number 9 and target player.
Boniface is having a good season, having racked up 20 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances combined for Bodo/Glimt and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
The 22-year-old has a contract with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise until June 30, 2026,and is valued in the region of ten million euros.
