Pundit predicts Osimhen would be a game changer for Napoli in second leg v Milan if passed fit
Published: April 14, 2023ESPN pundit Gab Marcotti has predicted that Victor Osimhen would be a decisive player for Napoli if he's passed fit to face AC Milan in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash on Tuesday, April 18.
The leading marksman in the Serie A is recovering from a muscle injury he suffered while on international duty with the Super Eagles last month and is racing against the clock to be in tiptop condition for the return leg.
Osimhen partly trained with the group and partly trained individually in Napoli's first training session after the loss to AC Milan.
Ahead of the return leg against the Rossoneri, the bad news is that Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti won't be able to count on the services of André-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Kim Minjae who are key players to the team.
And the good news is that Spalletti is confident that his number 9, Osimhen will be back in the squad on Tuesday.
Napoli created a couple of chances in their defeat to Milan on Wednesday but did not have a clinical striker to convert them.
Previewing the second leg, Marcotti said on ESPN : "If he (Osimhen) is fit, it's very much a game changer for Napoli.
"Napoli would feel pretty good about themselves, especially given the way they played in that game, the chances they created.
"They had a chance at the end as well with Di Lorenzo . So in that sense the momentum I think they feel will shift and will feel they have an excellent chance. "
Napoli have not been particularly impressive in their last three matches without Osimhen, losing twice to AC Milan and labored to a 2-1 win over Lecce.
