'No wonder everybody is chasing him' - Man Utd legend hails Osimhen after brace v Eintracht Frankfurt
Published: March 16, 2023Italian Serie A table-toppers Napoli are into the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after a routine 3-0 win over German opponents Eintracht Frankfurt at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Wednesday night, thanks to a huge contribution by Victor Osimhen.
The Nigeria international scored two more goals in the Champions League, which doubles his tally in this season's competition.
Osimhen's first goal came in first half stoppage time as he powered home a header to open the scoring, he doubled the advantage when he bundled the ball into the net in the 53rd minute, before Piotr Zielinski, from the penalty spot, wrapped up the scoring in the 64th minute.
The 24-year-old, who has been scoring all types of goals, hurt his left wrist quite badly as he netted his second of the night.
Manchester United legend and BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves praised Osimhen after the game, labeling him a perfect center forward, and highlighted that the Napoli number 9 is on the wishlist of many top European clubs.
"They attack in numbers. Politano with a great first touch, Di Lorenzo there, Osimhen there. They just overload you, he's always there Osimhen," Hargreaves said on BT Sport.
"He's a great athlete, runs the channels, he's got size. He's literally a perfect center forward, no wonder everybody is chasing him."
With nine minutes remaining, Osimhen went off to a standing ovation as he made way for Giovanni Simeone after netting his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season.
Luciano Spalletti had to withdraw the striker with his wrist heavily bandaged after he suffered an injury as he bundled the ball into the Eintracht Frankfurt net in the second half.
